What’s In A Name? The 2011 Orientation Theme…
Each year, the Orientation Committee chooses a theme to tie into various aspects of Orientation. After several brainstorming sessions, we are excited to announce that the 2011 Orientation theme has been selected! Although we threw around multiple ideas, the majority of the Orientation Team chose this one as their favorite… This year, the 2011 Orientation theme is *drum roll please* BORN TO BE! So, what exactly does this mean? Well, when you come to Mount Allison University in September, you will soon realize that the campus provides a dynamic environment for you to discover your potential and who you want to be. So, if you haven’t figured that out just yet, no need to worry! Although everyone comes to university from different walks of life, you all have this in common. But rest assured in knowing that you are on the right path by coming to Mount Allison. Not only are you a part of the Class of 2015, but you are also part of the generations of Allisionians that have come before you. No matter who you are; where you are from; or what your interests are – you were BORN TO BE! We hope this theme gets you all as pumped for Orientation as we are! Stay tuned for the official theme image and promo videos to go along with it. Familiar with the Much Music Born To Be series? Well, we plan on recreating these, but instead of showcasing celebrities, MTA Orientation’s Born To Be videos will feature Mount Allison students, so you can get a glimpse of how other students like yourselves came to the #1 Undergraduate University in Canada and discovered what they were BORN TO BE!

Who Are We & What Is The Point of This O-Blog?
Your Orientation Team has been hard at work organizing MTA’s 2011 Orientation. The people who plan and run the events are the White Shirts. There are 23 of us including the OC (Orientation Chair), and the friendly students you will see sporting the bright yellow t-shirts are your Orientation Guides (who are also referred to as Yellow Shirts). Each frosh group is led by one Yellow Shirt, and they are some of the most welcoming, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable students at Mount A! No matter which frosh group you get assigned to, you are guaranteed to have an incredible Yellow Shirt. So, just to make sure you’ve caught onto our Orientation lingo, we’ll break it down for you:
White Shirts = Orientation Committee (22 + OC)
Yellow Shirts = Orientation Guides (80+)
Got it? Great! Because you will be seeing us lots during Orientation Week. We are all available to answer any questions or concerns you may have and also to prepare you the best we can! We want to make your transition to university life as smooth (and fun!) as possible, so this Orientation Blog will serve as a basis for detailed updates leading up to the big Move-in Day! We absolutely cannot wait to see you all on September 1st :)
